Do you ever look longingly at your neighbor’s yard and wish yours could look even halfway as nice as theirs? Believe it or not, it doesn’t have to take much to create a whole new look and feel for your backyard. Just a couple of simple improvements and a few personal touches can make a big difference
Wood Chips
A fresh layer of new wood chips can significantly improve your yard’s ambiance – and also help control weeds. Try lining the area around your fence’s perimeter with wood chips to create a new look. The best part about wood chips is that if you call a local arborist you may even be able to get them for free.
Garden Art
Getting a few pieces of garden art will not only help your yard look better, but it will also personalize the entire space. There are several handcrafted metal art pieces that are both beautiful and functional, such as outdoor fire pits. You can also get sculptures to hang on your fence or put decorative metal art stakes into different places around your hard.
Flower Pots
Almost everyone has terracotta flower pots in their garage. You might even have some lying around the yard, but their contents have seen better days. Go grab a couple of buckets of bright paint and paint over your dull terracotta pots with bright yellows, blues or purples. You can even paint simple designs on them, such as flowers or swirls. Grab a few flowers from your local nursery and your yard will look better almost instantaneously.
Outdoor Furniture
If no one in your house is using your outdoor furniture it might be time to get an upgrade and select some pieces that you and your family actually want to sit in. A new Adirondack chair, a free-standing hammock or a few reclining outdoor chairs can make your outdoor space much more inviting.
